Tips For Creating an Outdoor Living Space

blog patio 1

For some of us, “the great outdoors” really just means a lovely patio on which to sip a glass of wine. Regardless of anyone else’s definition, we most likely can all agree that an outdoor living space should be comfortable, stylish and inviting. In Arizona, we enjoy our patios as an extension of the home, with our mild winters and delightful springtime. Here are some ideas for creating your own little slice of patio paradise!

Take cover… A canopy, gazebo or even an umbrella creates shade and a sense of protection from the “elements”. It will also protect your furnishings from wear and tear from the sun.

An outdoor rug can make it a “room”. There are lots of great textures, colors and sizes to create your desired look.

Comfort is key. Who wants to sit on uncomfortable metal or plastic seating? Think extreme comfort… the more pillows the merrier.

Back to that vino… add an outdoor bar cart. Stock with glasses, napkins and any other conveniences you see fit. Kick it up a notch by having a mini fridge with your favorite chilled refreshments.

Add some easy to grow plants to give your patio that resort feel. The greenery will also lend serenity to the space.

Add a water fountain. The sound of water can be very relaxing. Many home improvement stores have easy to install options, from small to large. If you would like a 10% coupon from Lowe’s, please email me at Michele@ScottsdaleNative.com

Thanks for reading.. see you next time!
